Merchant Village

For 2010, the Nashville Earth Day Festival will have a new area - the "Merchant Village" where we will allow local small businesses to participate in the Nashville Earth Day Festival in a new way.  This will be a “producer only” market meaning that the people standing at the booth were actively involved in making or growing the products they are selling.

This area of the festival will be limited to environmentally-friendly items such as locally-made clothing, organic products, locally-made food, daily-use consumables, environmental publications, and other green items.  (We are not including eco-art or jewelry as there are other established craft events.)

The Green Wagon, Nashville's green general store, is sponsoring the Merchant Village and will aim to filter out green washing while seeking a good mix of eco-friendly vendors.   Merchant Village vendors are required to submit an application that demonstrates that their products are environmentally-friendly.

We hope that the Merchant Village will be a great opportunity for environmentally-minded local small businesses, while offering to the community useful green information, resources, and products.
