Carbon Neutral

Nashville Earth Day Festival Will Be Carbon Neutral in 2009

The festival is once again offsetting its carbon footprint through a donation from Polar Technology. Polar Technology has joined forces with the city and the Nashville Earth Day Festival Committee to ensure that this is a “carbon neutral” event. The company will be retiring 60 tons of carbon offsets that it currently holds with the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) on behalf of the 2009 NEDF event.

“We encourage individuals to ‘seek ZERO’ as it relates to the carbon footprint for their entertainment, businesses and life,” said Ted Atwood, President/Founder of Polar Technology. “Polar takes great pride in our efforts with Nashville in honoring Earth Day and making this festival environmentally friendly.”

Polar Technology will be offsetting the festival’s carbon footprint created by electricity, travel and food used by musicians, exhibitors, vendors and attendees. Attendees can help keep our carbon emissions lower by walking, biking or carpooling to the event. Then take the next step and learn how you can reduce your own footprint - there will be dozens of workshops and displays with examples of practical ways to be "greener" in our everyday lives at the Nashville Earth Day Festival. So walk, bike, take the bus, or (if you must) drive on over to Centennial Park on April 18 and learn how you can make a difference!
